Virtual Fashion Week

By: Emily Miller

With the current times and evolution of the fashion industry over the last year due to the Coronavirus outbreak, fashion week was in need of changing as well. The involvement of technological advancements into the fashion industry has brought the typical fashion week to another level. Companies of all sizes have created experiences for their guests to have the opportunity to attend virtually. They sent these invites to industry professionals, models, or influencers, expecting content posted on different social media platforms to advertise the exclusive look into the season’s collection.

A host of major shows this year was the CFDA Runway360, where guests receive exclusive links for each production. With creative teams at design houses, videos were produced to showcase couture and ready-to-wear items in a completely new way. Design houses put together either presentations for locals to attend if showed in home city with social distancing restrictions or only played the productions remotely.

As I am someone who follows many bloggers on social media platforms, I have seen several configurations of how designers have influencers involved remotely. This change in fashion week has revolutionized the future of showcasing collections worldwide. The continuation of merging technology with the fashion industry will bring new experiences to audiences that are not normally able to be obtained. Each aspect has inspired myself as well as those dedicated to learning and seeing growth within the fashion industry.
