A Look at My Favorite Pharrell Looks Through the Years

By Stella Bernhard

Pharrell Williams is better known for his music career as a producer and performer but he has also made his mark in the fashion world. In 2005 Pharrell started his own label called Billionaire Boys Club with the founder of BAPE, Nigo, and has had collaborations with well-known brands like Chanel, Adidas, Tiffany and Co., and Richard Mille. As the new Creative Director of Menswear at Louis Vuitton, those inside the fashion industry can easily say Pharrell has some big shoes to fill as he takes over after the passing of Virgil Abloh in 2021. As we all anxiously wait for the first collection to debut in June at Men’s Fashion Week in Paris, let's reflect on some of my personal favorite looks from Pharrell throughout the years.

1. Pharrell at the 2010 NRJ Music Awards

Pharrell stepped out in Nike snowboarding boots made in 2009 in a collaboration between Nike, Arbito, and US snowboarder Danny Kass. He paired them with baggy jeans, a graphic tee with a blue flannel, and a red Polo Ralph Lauren vest over top. Finishing the look with a baseball cap. In my opinion, no one else could pull off this look better than Pharrell. He would also wear this similar look again the same year.

2. Pharrell in 2017 at Paris Fashion Week

Pharrell attended Women's Paris Fashion Week for Fall/ Winter in 2017. He wore a CPFM crewneck, a camouflage coat, red Adidas track pants, BBCICECREAM socks, and a pair of white Adidas Solar Hu sneakers. His high fashion casual look, quickly became his signature style, redefining what it means to ooze style without the flash.

3. Pharrell in New York City in 2015

Pharrel steps out in New York City wearing Levi denim pants and jacket with a white graphic tee, red and blue striped socks, and “Pirate Black” Adidas Yeezy Boost 350s. Not many people can execute the Canadian tuxedo look, but Pharrell hardly ever misses when it comes to style.

4. Pharrell and his wife Helen in Chanel Western Wear at the 2021 Met Gala

Pharrell and his wife Helen showed up to the 2021 In America: A Lexicon of Fashion-themed Met Gala wearing Karl Lagerfeld. They matched with black leather pants and tops accented with white stitching and cowboy boots with a gold toe. This "it" couple is known for attending events in matching or coordinated outfits, but this is by far my favorite look.

5. Pharrell on the red carpet at the Grammys on February 5, 2023

The most recent look from Pharrell was at this year's Grammys award ceremony, just a couple of days before he was announced as the new Men's Creative Director at Louis Vuitton. He paired this red leather pants and jacket ensemble with a faux-fur jacket, black boots, diamond-rimmed Tiffany & Co sunglasses, and a baseball cap from Human Made. An elevated casual chic style that we love to see on Pharell.
